Titans are dead, I’m dead, we’re all dead when you think about it. Titans lose another stinker to the Texans yesterday, getting shutout for the first time since 2019 (Broncos game where Tannehill took over! What a time!). I feel like every week here I say i’ve never seen a team look so bad, but the Titans continue to astound me.
Titans did the usual and had a pretty competitive 2 quarters of football. Not 2 good quarters mind you, but the defense looked strong and guys looked like they wanted to be there. Kinda. After Joey Slye missed 2 field goals that would’ve tied us at 6-6 going into half, Titans do the usual and implode on themselves. Slye has been pretty good this year, but this game does make you think, “Why did we get rid of one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL in Nick Folk?”. Good question! And the only real answer is because Slye is a Borgonzi guy. So that’s something I suppose.
Titans offense continues to look completely uninspiring and overall just sad. This is after Callahan relinquished play calling duties to Bo Hardegree, and I’ll tell ya, I’m starting to think Callahan never gave up play calling. It feels like he just said that to say something to the media, and then he’s still sneaking play calls in. Absolute joke of a franchise right now.
Let’s play the hypothetical game; it’s 3rd and 12, you’re down and need a spark. What play do you choose to run? If you selected draw up the middle for 0 yards, you sir have what it takes to be an NFL Coach!
The play calling remains mind boggling, the offensive line has moments of looking alive, and the receivers continue to not get any separation. Cannot for the life me understand why Dan Moore was paid so much money and I can’t understate how much we need JC Latham back. The receivers will get there as they get more experience, and Ayomanor continues to look like a guy. He just needs a real WR1 to show him the ways, not Calvin Ridley and his weird glasses. Then the defense plays well for a while and falls apart after being on the field for 45 minutes, and we get shutout to an extremely vulnerable 0-3 Texans.
I kind of feel bad for Callahan. He’s obviously in over his head, fans and media are chanting to fire him (and worse), and now Miss Amy is breathing down his neck. We’re even getting some “Sell the team” rallies, and I don’t think there’s a worse spot to be as a fan. Should Callahan be fired? Should Miss Amy sell? Probably yes to both, but the new stadium is going to make so much money, Miss Amy ain’t going nowhere. I’ll never forgive her for firing Vrabel, that was the last straw we had in anything of a competent team.
I really feel bad for Cam Ward. He’s pissed, and rightfully so! I don’t think the Titans have sucked all the life out of him yet, but they’re trying their best for sure. He hit us with the “We Ass” in the post game press conference, and it’s actually refreshing to hear a QB just say it and not do the whole media trained robot answer. Did it make me feel any better about us as a whole? Absolutely not, but it did make me laugh.
The person I feel the worst for is Jeffery Simmons. He’s having a legitimate sneaky DPOY year, and he’ll get pretty much nothing for his efforts. I don’t want to trade him because I love him, but he deserves better. Derrick, AJ Brown and Kevin Byard got out at the right time. They left Jeff to be sad all alone.
Titans take on the Cardinals in Arizona next week. Another stinker coming at you fast, you heard it here first! Another game we’ll have every opportunity to win, and unless we fire Callahan and get the interim coach bump, we’ll probably lose.
Titans are dead.
I’m dead.
Haters are so super fine.
