Well, we won a game
Titans win ugly against the Tyler Huntley led Dolphins.
Hooray. Yippie.
I should be more excited that we’re finally on the win column, but there were several things that happened in this game that tell me we’re still dead.
I want to get this out of the way right now, I will never apologize for a win, and I am indeed, very happy that we won this game, we needed to win. However, Levis throws a pick, to a defensive end, early, and said he “couldn’t see him at all”. Mind you this is a 6 foot 5, 260 lb man. Then he gets injured/benched throwing his body out there for a nothing 3rd down.
Here comes Mason Rudolph.
The most boring blob you can put at quarterback. But, it was extremely clear within one drive, that Mason Rudolph is clearly the better quarterback and has 10x the poise and confidence in the pocket. He was able to actually stand there, go through his reads, and make the correct decision without flailing around the backfield. That was wild, I’d forgotten what it looks like to throw an accurate ball on a midfield crosser. Titans relied much heavier on the run game in the 2nd half, but Mason Rudolph leads this team to a win.
I touched on it last week, and I still believe that we’d be 2-2 or 3-1 if Mason had started all year, but I don’t want this for the rest of the season.
Let me set you up a hypothetical;
Mason Rudolph starts the rest of the season, Titans finish anywhere between 6-11 to 9-8. With that record, we miss the playoffs and have the 10-14 pick in the draft. Now open your eyes. Didn’t like what you saw did you? Me neither.
Callahan said for the 2nd time in two weeks, “Levis is the starter”, so were in a super fun and helpful quarterback situation. Mason Rudolph has obviously been better, but what is better for the future of the franchise? Just remember, if you have 2 quarterbacks, you have 0 quarterbacks.
As much hate as I’ve heard and will receive for this, I think you keep Levis. Live and die by Levis. Listen, I know he’s been bad and made some horrible never before seen mistakes, but every mistake he has made is fixable. All of his mistakes so far this season have been mental mistakes where he panics or tries to do too much, and you get that with a lot of young quarterbacks. We were supposed to be past this, yes I agree, but here we are. Live and die by Levis. If he figures it out, we could be a very competitive fun team. If not, we’ll probably have a top 5 pick. Win-win.
I should be more excited about this win, and I am excited for the fellas. This season is far from over, it just feels like another useless season. I’m trying to stay positive, we can still be a decent team. Bye week is next week so we’ll have plenty of time to get everybody healthy and get ready to be a, hopefully, competitive team next game.
Titans win.
1-0 in last 1
Haters weren’t too impressed with this win.
