Titans are dead
And Joe Flacco killed us
Now, you may say, “Preston, we were already dead” and I would say, yeah maybe. But, let’s get a hypothetical going. IF, the Titans won on Sunday, that’s 2 in a row going to 2-3 and headed to a struggling Buffalo (without Amari Cooper cuz that trade doesn’t happen if the Titans are good (just trust)).
If the Titans had found a way to get to .500, I’m all the way bought back in. However, now, we’re 1-4 with stinky losses on winnable games as far as the eye can see.
I blame Jim Irsay for this loss, because he publicly lied to me and said not only was Anthony Richardson supposed to start, but Michael Pittman was supposed to be on IR. Instead, Flacco was throwing dimes and touchdowns to Pittman all in my face. Flacco even had one of his worst games in the last 2 years against us, but the Titans stink is too strong.
I love Flacco, but that made me quite sad.
Titans fans are in quite a conundrum right now. Half (like me) are saying you have to keep Levis, the season is a wash just see what you can get out of him and keep all your core pieces, to either have an improved Levis for next year or a rookie WB come in with an actual team. The other half is saying trade everybody, bench/kill Levis, and fire everybody.
In reality, Titans could in theory trade, Hopkins, Landry, Big Jeff, Diggs, and Key and get a significant amount of draft capital out of it. I wouldn’t like it, because I love most if not all of those players, but is it what we need to do right now?
This was part of the issue I had with Ran when he was hired. Him and Miss Amy were adamant on keeping the team competitive without undergoing a full rebuild. At this point, I can’t help but think what the hell have we been doing for the past two years. Why try to build this semi-competent team with a few solid, but aging, pieces, and then buy all the way in on an obvious project QB? Ask me two years ago and ask me today, not in the middle it was a strange time, and I would tell you we simply need a full rebuild. But it’s too late now. We’re paying stars out the ass that we can’t trade this year. So to me, we might as well keep trying Levis. If he improves, great, get another QB at the trade deadline, this free agency or the draft. If he continues to self destruct the team and my well-being, great, get another QB at the trade deadline, this free agency or the draft.
Titans are in a very particular position.
I can’t confidently say I don’t halfway agree with selling everybody, but I think we’re just tired. Tired of same ol Titans football and not willing to give anybody a chance. We’re officially in the “Fire everybody” boat for most average fans. Now, say we do give them all plenty of chances, there’s still a 60% chance they’re just not good players/coaches and the fans are right. But what if they just needed a little time.
Titans fans know this well, but there is a legitimate curse, of former Titans players being studs on other teams. Malik Willis, Kristian Fulton, SMB, etc. Now this raises some questions. Did the players just need to time to develop, or are the Titans that bad at developing and utilizing players. Malik Willis is example 1.1. We watched Malik start for the Titans, we saw what he could do for several years. Reminder; it was close to nothing. Guy couldn’t throw the ball. Then, he gets traded to the Packers, and has to start after 2 weeks.
Malik looked nothing short of competent, decisive, and just solid overall. Complete 180 from what we saw in Tennessee.
Was this Malik’s fault or the Titan’s fault? Was it playcalling? Was it coaching? Who’s to say. All I know, he beat the shit out of us.
This has all been rambling nonsense just to say we’re dead, and the Titans are cursed to strive for mediocracy.
If the Titans can find a way to .500 in the next 5 weeks, I’ll be back.
But I doubt it.
We’re dead.
Bills week coming up. Amari Cooper might have 200 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Titans are dead
