Titans haters across the NFL have been just fine. Fine enough to make me want to write this blog. The Tennessee Titans have been hurting my feelings for the better part of 15 years now, with no end in sight, and unfortunately I am too locked in to back out now. So this is just meant to be a way for me to rant and unload all of my unfiltered Titans takes and I hope it gives your more entertainment than watching the Titans lose to the bum-ass Colts.
Note : This is just gonna be a bunch of incomprehensible ranting that will change nothing, but it makes me feel better. And I am not trying to be mean to any player or person, I am just another football fan who thinks they know better than the GM (We all know i’m just a fool)
I realize I am starting this in week 5 of the NFL, so here are some of my thoughts so far on the season, and they aren’t good.
Titans might be dead
Starting with week 1, the haters were loving it. Losing to an injured and suspended Saints team, the Titans proved yet again that week 1 has never and will never be friend of the franchise.
Loss
Week 2, Chargers week, a true battle of who wants to lose the game more and it really comes down to Vrabel vs Staley. Vrabel won, who woulda thought? And it’s the Chargers, who have won the superlative “Most Likely to Choke” for the past 25 years. Unimpressive win.
Overtime dub
Browns. Pathetic game. Offensive Line acting like Elon Musk trying to ban blocking. No questions regarding this game, I am still trying to cleanse my brain of that garbage.
Big loss
Bengals. I have always said and will always say, Fuck a Bengal. Lucky for us, they are also hot garbage! Except the big difference is they actually have issues that can be fixed with a healthy Burrow and some better pieces at Oline. But, nevertheless good quality win, needed it big time and it almost brought me back to thinking the Titans can be good!
Big time dub
Well well well, where does that leave us now. This game, Titans vs Colts week 5, really brought me back to reality and confirmed all my suspicions. We couldn’t even beat a Colts team riddled with injuries, not even to mention the battle of Irsay vs Jonathan Taylor. As soon as I saw the roof was gonna be open, I knew we were in trouble. The defense that has kept us in games when the offense throws up stinkers every week, decides this is the week to let Zach Moss throw shades of Nyheim Hines and be the Titans killer with 165 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Zach Moss. 165 yards. 2 TDs. Fantasy players everywhere are shaking their fists. Disgusting
Titans are hot garbage wrapped up in a bow. The bow comes in the form of a 6’4 260, two time Superbowl winner Mike Vrabel, in my opinion the only thing keeping the Titans going. WIthout him, I really don’t know if this team would win a game. And the worst part? We have good players! Believe it or not! People do love to forget the Titans were in the AFC Championship just 3 short years ago, but it might as well have never happened because what does getting that far and losing get you? Not a damn thing, and you can quote me on that. Then we fire the GM who got us there because he got in a dick measuring competition with AJ Brown (Best receiver the Titans have probably ever had) and lost bad.
This all leads into where we are now. A few really good 30 year old players surrounded by failed draft picks and inconsistency (the best weapon we have). Did I think some of these picks were going to be the difference maker? Yes I did. Did Isaiah Wilson get dropped within 6 months. You bet your ass he did. Did we draft two qbs in two years who both might both be booty? You’re gonna be running out of ass to bet because they both bring a special kind of stink, especially Levis. And yes, I am a Vols fan, but this is not about Kentucky. This is about TRADING UP to draft a qb who has great measurables but bad film, AFTER doing the exact same thing the year before. That’s a poverty franchise move. Wasting and trading picks on a position we would be so much better off waiting on until we have a competent team surrounding them. Have you noticed that QBs taken with a top 5 pick usually aren’t good? Because they have no team around them! Nothing to help them grow. Just throw them in the fire and they’ll probably be fine right? And if we’re getting into the QBs, i’ll say it; if we knew Malik wasn’t ready as a rookie, why did we throw him under the bus as fast as we could? Leave him in the oven! Let him marinate and cook for a couple years and take him out in 2025 when he’s golden brown. People forget he was a projected top 5 pick in ’22. But no, lets waste picks on another QB who is probably gonna get cut in 3 years.
Time to put my GM hat on. Call me Captain because I would sink this ship immediately. I don’t know what else to do except sell all our assets and go for picks. I can’t keep doing this “Oh we’re not rebuilding, we can just work around the team we already have without actually fixing anything”. I’d rather be 0-5 than whatever this is. We are ruining great players like Derrick and Big Jeff, potential Hall of Famers on good teams who could be worth multiple first round picks.
But hold on! There is good news! Tajae Spears looked great, even without his ACL (apparently you don’t need it!). Although, with how much he is playing it makes me wonder if the Titans are trying to get us used to a team without DK? Who’s to say? Definitely not the Titans. DHop still got it. He looked like prime DHop and I still think he’s a top 10 reciever talent wise. And you know what? Tannehill looked okay! When he is given time and the defense steps up, he can win games and make great throws, especially feasting on play action. When the running game is clicking and Tannehill has time, holy shit this team might be good! I also love Treylon Burks, I truly think he can live up to AJ Brown. Will he? With how most of my takes have gone, probably not. But what if he does! But I digress.
At the end of the day, the Titans are the most consistently inconsistent team in the NFL. Will this ever change? Probably not. But I will be here regardless, miserable, but here.
The haters are fine today. They’ve won this battle, but will they win the war against me and my mental state? Probably.
As of right now, I am sad and the Titans are Dead.
