Superbowl? Will Levis? I’m all the way bought back in. Hand up, I’ll admit, I was a former Will Levis hater, and there is still that little rational voice in my head that says, “Wait Preston no, he’s booty! Don’t get too excited, stay humble”, but alas, I’m an irrational man.
Maybe I didn’t want to believe in Levis, maybe it’s because he’s a weirdo, maybe it’s because the Tennessee vs Kentucky game the last two years left a bad taste in my mouth, or maybe I wanted to believe in Malik Willis ( super uncool to boo him, we didn’t leave him in the oven for long enough! ), but here we are and I have no choice but to buy all the way back in.
The haters really were not feeling well after this one. Some would even say they felt awful “sick”. Thoughts and Prayers to the haters because the Titans are so back.
Let’s talk ball.
Note : Must Read new Guest Column by none other than Mike Garcia, will be on separate page on the site. I shall also be participating in the bet he has made with Will Levis and the Titans.
Note : Note : New Bums of the Week is up
Gotta be 3-4 to go 13-4
Now, there are a lot of reasons you could say the Titans won this game. Oilers week, look good play good, and the throwbacks were electric. How can you lose a game looking that fresh, I mean come on, especially since they have been practicing in Oilers helmets for two weeks ( possibly why they lost to the Ravens? Too busy looking forward to this week? ). No tape on Levis. Hard to gameplan for a guy you’ve got no tape on, gives Levis the opportunity to go out there and shock the NFL. We beat the Falcons. Maybe it’s the Falcons, but people do love to forget the Falcons are leading the NFC South, as bad as the division may be, Arthur Smith and his Falcons find a way to win games.
Some of these objections are fair, and the rational part of my brain is telling me to pump the brakes, but come on. Levis had 4 touchdowns, 70% passing, no interceptions, how can I not buy in. His 4 passing touchdowns ties the record for most passing touchdowns for a first career start. Well who did he tie with, you may ask, and the answer is none other than Marcus Mariota ( yes, I still think he could be good ). Haters will say, “Well look how Mariota turned out, you still think Levis is that guy?”, and to that I say, shut up and mind your business. You can’t take this away from me. Levis had more touchdowns ( 2 ) in the first half than Tannehill has had all year. It’s week 8. Give me something to believe in. Gotta take it one week a time, just trying to be 1-0 every week, can’t get ahead of ourselves. But I can and I will, Titans playoff push is back on, and not just because of Levis.
The offense in total, I think played some of the best they have played all year. Not sure if you remember or not, but I did in fact say in last couple weeks, Deandre Hopkins is still that guy pal. 3 touchdowns, and they were all straight bombs. I love how they really gave Levis and Hopkins the opportunity to play their game and take some shots. We knew the Falcons, overall strong defense, have their biggest weakpoints in the secondary and we gave Deandre every chance to take advantage of that. And shoutout Nick Westbrook-Ikine, what a dog. This may be delusion but I’d take him over pretty much any other WR3 in the league. He’s a locker room guy who has stuck with the team at our worst and is always good for 1 or 2 impressive catches a game. This is all without mentioning our King, Derrick Henry. A somewhat quiet game if you’re just looking at the numbies, but he provided a huge change of pace and stability for Levis. Being able to hand the ball off to the best RB in the league as a rookie QB has to help not only with the pace of play, but also his confidence and knowing he has that safety valve, especially with the O-Line playing well.
At the end of the day Titans got a huge, much needed dub, and might have something to root for. I said it earlier, I was massive Levis hater literally Sunday morning. I wanted him to play well, I was rooting for him, but did I think he would play well? Absolutely not. Did he surprise me and make me a former Levis hater? Absolutely. I have no choice now but to buy back in now.
Titans playoff run is back.
Haters are sick.
