Checking on the Haters

  • I Got Ahead of Myself

    November 14th, 2023

Fine i’ll say it, maybe I got a little excited. I want so bad to buy in on Levis, and he has been nothing but promising and refreshing to see somebody else out there at the helm, but maybe he’s not the Hall of Famer he was being made out to be.

Titans lost yet another winnable game against a bad team. What’s new. I truly do not understand. It’s not like we don’t have the talent, we have good players, but we just can’t put it together to win games. And why was it every single time I looked away for a second and looked back it was 4th down? For both teams, every single time it was 4th down and we still couldn’t capitalize. That’s bad ball.

Haters are fine this week and they have my number.

    What Happened?

I’m going to start with the obvious, the O Line. What is this? Why are we still in this terrible O line hell? We did this last year too we’re supposed to be over this. I’m starting to think this is the curse of cutting Lewan, we get spoiled with an All Pro left tackle and now Dillard alone has allowed more sacks than 31 teams. Pathetic. Watching his film, he doesn’t even get off the ball until the end has 2 steps on him. As soon as you put a competent edge rusher out there, we lose all composure and technique and panic. By far, the line is still our biggest issue and will continue to cripple this offense and Will Levis’s development if we don’t fix it this offseason. I had really hoped we would’ve made some move at the trade deadline for at least more depth at tackle specifically, especially with how many o line injuries we get a game, but alas. No moves. Sad boring Titans are back.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, quoting my good friend Chris Johnson, everytime Derrick Henry gets over 20 rushes the Titans win. You may say there are variables and it depends on game feel and blah blah, but you simply have to put the ball in your best players hands. Vita Vea holds the Buccs run defense together, so why we didn’t have a permanent double on him and let Derrick beat a man in space will always boggle my mind. This could be a stupid fan take, but for the love of God please run the damn ball. It sounds simple! But for some reason, maybe saving him for late season protecting from injuries idk, they refuse to run him more than 10-12 times a game. Free him! Let him loose! Please! I don’t understand and maybe that’s why I don’t get paid like the big boys ( I don’t get paid at all this is just how far my foolish fandom goes ).

When Levis initially came in, and even last week, I thought the playoff push could happen. And technically, it still can. But this team doesn’t deserve the playoffs. To be fair, I don’t think any team in the AFC south deserves the playoffs ( maybe the Texans, Stroud and DeMeco Ryans are so much fun and i’m so jealous ), especially not the bum ass Jaguars. The Jags are maybe the most fraudulent team in the NFL, and yes maybe that has to do with my undying hate for them, but they’re buns! Booty! And if they make the playoffs over us, I think i’ll throw up. If the Colts find a way to make the playoffs, the NFL should shut down for a bit and take a good hard look in the mirror. Titans were poised to claim the division again, but for whatever reason, we can’t put it all together for even a game. Not even against the Buccaneers. Now that’s sad, that not Vrabel football to lose to Todd Bowles squad.

I think the playoff run might be dead and I can’t help but think maybe we’d be in a better spot if we held onto Josh Dobbs, who said and I quote, “I’d love to stay here” talking about Nashville. But no, another former Titan playing great ball somewhere else. But what do I know.

I truly do not think Vrabel is the issue either. I still think he is the best coach this franchise has ever had and he brings winning football and a winning culture. Maybe the players aren’t buying into or maybe it’s Ran and Vrabel butting heads ( still not convinced he was the right choice and I definitely do not see his vision ), but there has to be an issue we’re not seeing besides the o line.

At the end of the day, Titans are dead. This loss made me sadder than any of the losses to this point. Another winnable game shattered by the o line and defense falling apart after being on the field all game again.

Haters are fine, I am dead.
