Checking on the Haters

  • Nevermind, Not Back

    September 11th, 2024

    Gross. Disappointing. Yucky.

Titans put up a stinker on Sunday playing forgettable football with huge mistakes, costing them a week 1 win. There are a couple good takeaways, but overall, an extremely upsetting start to the Ran/Callahan regime. We’re going to keep it short and sweet, I’m looking to week 2 already.

    High Flying Offense

Callahan promised me personally, that we would have a fun, up-tempo offense with points points points and lots of numbies. However. My biggest fear for this season is starting to rear its ugly head. The entire season relies on the play of Will Levis, and boy did he look stinky. Levis played probably the worst game of his career in this season opener.

The first half looked like we might just be playing good football. Tony Pollard looked better than I think most people might’ve hoped for (although I wish Tyjae played more), and capped it with 80 yards and a touchdown. Calvin Ridley showed his face a few times and was wide open on others, made me feel confident he can still play and be the guy. And then we got a Chig! A little taste but that catch was the best play of the day, great throw and catch just letting your guy go up and make a play.

The offensive line was bad, but not terrible. Certainly plenty to work on and improve, but Latham showed some flashes mixed in with some rookie mistakes. Skoronski had one of the worst games of his career as well, getting bullied and allowing inside pressure, and the right side of Radunz/Rupcich and NPF allowed tons of pressure.

All I will say about Levis, is that he played decent for 95% of the game. He was pressured often and was always running outside the pocket, which was to be expected with the Bears strong defense. Then he got stinkier. It’s the biggest mistake a young QB can make, and I thought we were passed this since he played 8 games last year. But no, instead Levis is falling apart, trying to make plays and make up for all the mistakes in the game in one play. Just take a sack what the hell. Why would you ever throw a pass like that, falling over throwing something up, especially after the defense made Caleb look like a 6th round pick. I can’t think about it anymore, I’m already in week 2.

Defense looked incredibly strong, completely shutting down the Bears offense and not allowing an offensive touchdown. Special teams has a lot to work on as well. It’s called Wefense for reason, it takes all of us. Because if you don’t, you let one guy get through and block a punt for a scoop and score to let this team right back in this game.

Overall, a yucky, stinky, ugly, winnable game that the Titans threw away (literally). Some stuff to be happy about with the defense playing great and a few guys on offense showing potentially fun football. But I am sad.

Now its Jets week. Just trying to go 1-0 this week.

    Haters are fine.

    Currently taking questions.
