Checking on the Haters

  • Should’ve Known Better

    December 3rd, 2024

Maybe we got a little ahead of ourselves last weekend.

Titans put up the biggest stinker, maybe of the season, on Sunday. Titans lost to the Commanders in a stunning display of a dysfunctional team.

There were really only two good takeaways from this game in my eyes.

NWI is still a dog who deserves all the money we can pay him. NWI now has 8 touchdowns on 20 catches this season. That’s a 40% touchdown rate on his catches. He’s currently 4 touchdowns short of having the record for the most receiving touchdowns in a single season in Titans history. That’s would put him ahead of AJ Brown, Nate Washington, Kevin Dyson, Titans greats.

The other big takeaway was William Levis. Like I said last week, I’m not saying he’s the guy. I still don’t think he’s the franchise quarterback we need to be really good, but he’s put up an incredible stretch of games. He’s actually been one of the better parts of our offense. He threw one of the coolest balls I’ve seen, miraculously scrambling left out of a sack throwing a rope to the sidelines. Over the past 4 weeks, Levis is top 10 in yards, touchdowns, passer rating, and yards per attempt. He has also been sacked 22 times in these weeks. Insane stat. Pure chaos, and it’s awesome.

He still has to improve his pocket presence and be able to find the right spots to step up, but it’s miles better than week 1. He was also plagued with receivers dropping balls all game, and being immediately put in a terrible situation with the Commanders scoring 21 first quarter points.

I’m at the point now where I think I want Levis back, for at least next year. I don’t want him long term, but another year with him while we draft some much needed pieces, we could be set up in a couple of years. And then we draft Archie Manning. It’s perfect.

Now let’s talk about the bad. Many people are putting Denard Wilson on fraud watch. People are saying our defensive numbers are so good because our special teams lets everybody have a short field, and then they score, so we’re not giving up that many yards. And then when we play a real offense, ( Bills, Lions, Commies ) we look like doo doo. It’s hard to argue our defense is overrated when we get run over like that. Injuries, lack of an elite edge rusher, and a ton of young talent is the perfect recipe for Chris Rodriguez Jr having 100 yards rushing on us. Fun fact, he was Levis’s college running back, and he looked like he was having a lot more fun than us. Another fun fact, I’m dead.

This was the first game it really felt like the defense rolled over and gave up. We looked better in the second half, but not by much. I don’t think this team has quit, but we were very, very close. Jeffery Simmons said after the game, that we were “hungover off success” or something similar. That hurt so bad to hear. Our team can’t handle winning literally one game without it ruining all their drive.

Fumbles, drops and pressures killed us on offense. It truly felt like nobody was ready to play, and it showed. The interior of the line and right tackle is still a huge problem, I just pray to god we draft one this year instead of some qb who won’t pan out.

I haven’t given up on Callahan at all. I hate the narrative now with head coaches, where if you don’t immediately win, you’re on the hot seat. It’s hard to win games in the NFL and these guys need time, not only to build a team, but to build the chemistry and culture within the team. It’s delusional to think a first time, first year, head coach can accomplish all of that in 13 weeks. When we execute his game plan correctly without mind-boggling turnovers, our offense looks good!

It was probably good for us to lose this game. The NFL has so many bad teams this year, we need every loss we can get so we can get somebody who will actually be good, hopefully.

    Titans are dead

Let’s get a good draft pick please

    Haters are just fine
