Checking on the Haters

  • Titans have done it again

    January 7th, 2025

Well, a lot has happened in the last week.

Titan lose a sad week 18 game to finish the season at 3-14 and set an all-time NFL record of going 2-15 against the spread. Never been done! Congrats Titans!

With that, and a Patriots win, Titans are officially on the clock with the 1.1 pick in the draft. Wowie, what a time we live in. Was it all worth it? Being the most miserable unwatchable team in the league this season and tanking our future? Probably not! We’ll talk more about the draft a little closer to draft time.

In other big news, Titans (Miss Amy) fired Ran Carthon this morning. This marks the 3rd firing ( and 3 different qbs ) in 3 years for the Titans. That’s the mark of a good franchise right?

I still don’t entirely know what to think about this firing, and I keep reading weirder and weirder reports around it all. Word on the street tells me that Chad Brinker ( President of Football Operations ) was possibly the secret GM with decision making power. Other birds are saying that they couldn’t get along with Ran and share the same ideas and goals for the future ( Him and Vrabel’s issue as well ). People are even going as far to say that Ran, wasn’t a football guy. He didn’t live a breath the game, according to some Twitter sources, which apparently deeply upset Chad Brinker and Miss Amy. Alls I know is that we’re dysfunctional. This is not how a good franchise acts.

Let’s take a look at the timeline of events that got us here.

2015 : Miss Amy becomes controlling owner of the Titans

2015 : Titans draft Marcus Mariota ( had to put it in because I love Marcus )

2016 : Titans hire Jon Robinson

2018 : Titans hire Mike Vrabel

2019 : Titans make AFC Championship

2021 : Titans are 1 seed in AFC, lose in Divisional

2020 – 2022 : Titans waste 3 drafts in a row with only 5 players from those drafts still on the roster as of right now ( Radunz, Treylons, McCreary, NPF, and Chig )

2022 : Titans break every fan’s heart and trade AJ Brown, roster problems begin to add up, especially quarterback.

2022 : Titans fire Jon Robinson and hire Ran Carthon

2023 : Titans fire Vrabel due to not agreeing with Ran

2024 : Titans hire Brain Callahan and Chad Brinker as Assistant GM / President of Football Operations

2024 : Titans fire Ran Carthon due to not agreeing with head coach and Chad Brinker

You see how silly this all looks when it’s laid out? We had something good going, fell apart with wasted drafts, and now we’re panicking trying to over fix anything and everything. Writing that timeline out really took me down memory lane and how the Titans used to be fun. Well, “fun” as in we were winning games, Titans have never had a fun brand of football.

My biggest fear is that we have an outside hire for GM, and that almost certainly means drafting a QB at 1. New GM comes in, has seen how quickly people are turned on over here, has to make a splash in the draft to stick around, gets Shadeur, the talk of the draft. Fast forward to week 10 next year we’re 2-8, Shadeur can’t stay healthy since we didn’t fix the other holes on the team and tried to fill them with a not so great rookie QB. Then we finish with less than 5 wins again, Callahan is fired and we restart the process. I’m spiraling.

My other biggest issue with this move, and this is assuming it really was Ran that was making moves this offseason, is that Ran felt like the only guy actually trying to get us talent. Look at the guys he drafted and brought in though free agency. Sneed, Ridley, Chido, Pollard, Latham, Skoronski, Sweat, Brownlee Jr, and he resigned Big Jeff. And say what you want but Mason Rudolph is a great backup QB, he can come in for a game or two and compete. Not the starter. But a good to have backup. Now you could say half these guys were injured, but Ran can’t control that. At the end of the day, I just think he deserved more time, especially when Jon Robinson got 10 years and we’re still paying for his mistakes.

Overall, I think it was a mistake firing Vrabel first, and now Ran. We’re looking more and more like a poverty franchise and the laughing stock of the NFL. Maybe the new GM hire will sway me, and I hope he does! But i’m not optimistic. So dumb to me to keep hitting the half reset button. If you want to start over just do it. Clean house.

This whole “flip the roster without doing a complete rebuild and staying competitive” plan that Ran and Miss Amy had two years ago failed dramatically. I really am starting to blame Miss Amy more and more. It always felt like Ran was catering to her, but maybe i’m just looking for somebody to blame. Where there’s smoke there’s fire though, and that’s now 2 scapegoats for this team in the past 2 years.

Haters love to see us like this.

Titans still dead, but officially on the clock.

I hope whatever new hire we get, whether it’s Chad Brinker converting to GM, or an outside hire, or an outside hire that’s just a puppet for Chad Brinker, that they just have an actual plan. I don’t even know what that would look like, I’m a Titans fan.

    Currently taking questions.

Please trade back and draft Abdul Carter.
