Mike’s Thoughts
Alright so I guess Kenny Pickett will continue to be the worst QB of all time and still beat my teams? Again, best to start with some background.
I was in Neyland stadium the year Pitt came down to Knoxville. And boy was that game a shootout. But still, I always thought Pickett was mid AF. He is an NFL QB, but even so I still think he was ass. However, as much as I want to blame it on him, this loss was the Titans losing because of rookie mistakes IMO. Levis did not look bad at all. He stood confidently in the pocket yet again and made some timely throws, most notably in my eyes to Kyle Phillips. Derrick Henry was also back to being the lead on offense, with his having the only TD we got.
Overall, I was not disappointed, just more felt like a crash back down to earth. Levis made one critical error. Trying to throw the same pass that almost got picked 2 plays earlier a second time. The second time he did not get so lucky. That being said, that final Titans drive should not have happened, as they got lucky with the penalty call to continue the drive. Sometimes you get lucky and capitalize on the refs being paid off by the Adams Strunk family mobb, other times you fail.
Enough said about the O. How bout the D? You know, I have watched the Titans play for a long time (23 years to be exact). I still do not think we have ever had a star corner (minus Cortland Finnegan but he was a star for thrashing Andre Johnson not his skill). I loved seeing our secondary (now without the greatest Titans FS of all time) get torched by Diontae Johnson (I take full blame for this as he is on my opposition’s fantasy team so naturally he played well). Either way, our secondary needs help, and it’s obviously too late to add anybody through trades so we got what we got. If those guys can step up and complement the DL and LB’s pass rush, we got a chance to still win the division I think. Odds went down from say 70-30 to 50-50 in making the playoffs IMO.
I still got a lot of faith in this team. We have a tough schedule coming up. We have 2 more road games (both winnable I think) but still tough. Tampa has Baker, and even though I think he was the greatest story in CFB of all time, I think his luster has worn off and the Titans can win. Also of note, the Titans have not lost a single game at home (minus the neutral site in London), yet have not won a single game on the road. They really gotta figure that shit out if they want to make the playoffs. But I still believe. We will be back here complaining about how great Baker is next week won’t we?
Signing off for now.
