Titans vs the Refs?

Easily the worst officiated game i’ve seen in a long long time, and Titans fans everywhere are calling for heads.

Titans lost 13-23 on sunday, launching us into the number 2 pick in the draft. That’s really one of the only positives I took from this game. We had a couple other good things to write home about, but overall, the refs were the story of Sunday.

My Will Levis take is looking better and better. After coming back from injury, Levis has been nothing short of good(?), and he showed up again on Sunday. He looked more poised than he has all season, and the biggest part to me, they let him take shots down field! That’s what we’ve been asking for! Let him be Will Levis and throw his body around and launch the ball. Levis has certainly impressed me the last 2 weeks, but I still think we need to pump the breaks on him being the guy.

I had a realization the other day when I saw Daniel Jones would no longer be the starter for the Giants. Will Levis might be the same as Daniel Jones. Enough promise his rookie year to say, yeah maybe he’s good. Then you see his true colors, that he’s actually bad. But wait! Then, he has a string of really strong performances, just enough to make you second guess if he’s bad. For Daniel Jones, he played himself into a huge extension that has been killing the Giants since they made the deal. I could 100% see Will Levis being extended in a year after a couple good games. Welcome back Danny Dimes. My biggest fear is being stuck with Levis because we’re paying him way too much money. Now, I do still believe he can be a quarterback in this league, but I think he needs several years to mature, grow and learn.

The other biggest takeaway I got from this game, was that the defense never quit on us. We’ve seen maybe a record number of teams quit this year. Bears, Browns (with DeShaun), Cowboys, Jets, Jags, Giants (not with Devito baby) Panthers, and Saints. All quit. Titans have never quit. They always come out and fight for their boys and, I didn’t think so until recently, their coach.

That’s the last thing i’m going to talk about here. Brian Callahan. I LOVED seeing him with that fire in him. Refs completely sold the game, calling a non-existent PI in the endzone (Vikings scored), a penalty against Callahan for being upset (loved that), and 3 illegal formations on the same player (took away a score and killed 2 drives). It was truly, I think, the closest we’ve gotten to refs throwing a game in a long time. It’s so disheartening to see your guys play, maybe the best game they’ve played all season, and have it torn away by the refs. Titans had 7 drive extending penalties. 7 times, Titans defense did what they had to do, and refs gave the Vikings first down after first down. To me, and other Titans fans around, it truly felt like some petty bullshit. A ref with too much power gets his feelings hurt after making a game changing call and being called out for it. Things just went down from there.

There’s a conspiracy going around right now, that a Titans coach was arguing with an official, when the ref looked at him, smiled, and called illegal formation. Keep in mind, the illegal formation rule is new this year, and players and refs have to communicate to make sure everybody is on the same page, because nobody, including refs, wants to see a game like that . Refs gave the Titans no warning or extra chances, and looking at the film, I couldn’t tell the difference between an illegal formation and a clean line. It was absolutely ludicrous, and every Titans fan deserves to be upset.

I’m just disgusted and upset. Titans are dead, but we already knew that.

Titans are back up to number 2 on the draft board, and I just hope we don’t ruin everything forever.

Whatever who cares anymore. Me. Unfortunately I still care.

Titans play the Texans this week. Titans lose 14-27.

Haters are fine.
