Haters were fine this week
This one hurt. Another easily winnable game the Titans let slip through. but I will remain optimistic. we finally have something to root for with Levis, i was a big time Levis hater i’ve said that before, but he’s bought me in. Now officially, I’m a former Levis hater and a full time supporter. He brings a sort of energy when he’s out there compared to Tannehill, not to mention how many sacks he got out of that Tannehill wouldn’t have been able to.
Not a great game for the Titans, but there were more bright spots than i’ve seen all year
Mike’s Thoughts and Bums of the Week up soon
Levis had another really strong showing with flashes of really great arm talent and his ability to move around the pocket. Had some beautiful balls and he throws it so effortlessly it’s just beautiful. It’s a young man’s game and I love watching a rookie qb go in there and be willing to take huge shots from one of the best defenses, and still deliver some perfect moon balls. Like I said earlier, he just brings a new energy when he’s in. Maybe it’s just seeing a new face out there running things but i think we all needed it, as good as tannehill has been for us the last couple years.
Derrick played well, shows us every week he’s still got it. DHop is still a dog making plays and getting double teamed all game. If some noncalls had gone differently and we got a pass interference a time or two, Titans may have won this game. Really really hurt to see Treylon go down like that and from what i’ve seen it looks like he’s okay.
I can honestly say in my years of being a Titans fan, i have never seen so many offensive linemen get hurt. It was one after another after another and it just kept getting worse. Skoronski should be an all pro but he can’t stay healthy, already missed 3-4 games. Brewer and Brunskill get bullied sometimes but are the most consistent. And then you get Dillard and NPF. I’m not even going to count Chris Hubbard because he’s already 31 and I think on a 1 year, not the future. Dillard got a lot of money to come in and let up the most pressures and sacks in the NFL. He leads in NFL in pressures allowed, QB hits allowed, and Sacks allowed. We were supposed to be past this! We already did this last year with Dennis Daley! This is unfair and it really makes you realize how good Lewan was. O-Line plays %15 better, we win this game.
Now the defense. Ugh. D Line played great per usual, Jeffery Simmons balled and was in Kenny’s face all night and remains, who I think is, the most under appreciated End in the league. Now, I haven’t had the chance to fully look over the film again yet, but off of just immediate reactions, the dbs were the biggest problem by far. And every time the steelers had a big play, who did i see on my tv? Terrell Edmunds. Every single time. and you may ask, “Preston where did this guy even come from?”, and i’ll say oh yeah that was the Kevin Byard trade. I understand KB is in the back end of his career and had certainly lost a step from his prime, but I couldn’t help but every time I saw Terrell Edmonds missing a tackle, I think, Kevin woulda made that play. The secondary is still our biggest weakness on defense in my opinion and were a big factor in losing this game, and that’s with Pickens not playing well and not getting his feet in for that easy touchdown.
At the end of the day, the team has played better than we have earlier this year, believe it or not, but we still have a lot to fix. Tons of bright spots and I really hope they ride Levis the rest of the way, no matter what Vrabes says about Tannehill.
I was going to talk about the trade deadline too, but we did jack shit. So, I’m still extremely confused on the direction of this team and what the plan is. When we traded Byard, I was positive we were selling house and trading at least 2-3 other good players, but we held Derrick and DHop and Jeff and everybody. Makes me wonder how Kevin wronged Ran or if they’re beefing or what, i’m not sure but it had to be something it’s the only explanation. I guess the only thing to do now is to keep trying to be competitive and building Levis. I hope we don’t ruin him by letting him get murdered every week, but he’s a tough kid with a lotta juice.
Haters are fine, no sickness to report. Titans have a little life, but we’re in the ER.
Thoughts and Prayers to me and Treylon.
